SUPER-SIZE ME!  A special handmade EXTRA-LARGE 2-Tier  Cedar Wooden Japanese Stack Box or Pastry Box, made using the same traditonal bentwood technique as the standard wood bento boxes. This is proabaly the largest rectangular stack bentwood box ever made at ShibataToku.  Couple years back, we were experimenting with creating pastry and bread boxes. Mr. Morita then explored how big he can make the bentwood box, with size limitation of the cedar planks they use.  So this is MAX.  And it's not a standard product, only 2 exists.

We always recieve inquiries from customers in Western countries asking for large-size boxes. It is a really rare chance to get something of this size, and not to mention, the last work from heritage family business ShibataToku.  (I think we may have made 2 sets, so inquire if you want more than 1). 8/4 Update: indeed we found the 2nd set!  So it is listed for sale again!

Typical bentwood boxes are lightweight as the wood is only 4mm thick, this unit weights 1kg.  What a Big Mac.

How would you use this double-decker? For bread and pastry?  As a knitting tool box?  To store memorabilia and precious photos?  Let us know, we are curious!

SHIPPING in included in the price!  Email us if you are ordering more items and we can double-check and recalculate shipping for you as needed.

Made with 4mm fine Japanese cedar, with the iconic cherry tree bark stitches.  The box is uncoated to preserve the aroma of natural cedar wood and for retaining moisture in food without condensation.

Handmade by Mr. Morita and Ms. Shibata.  Own a piece of unique bentwood craft history from Hakata Fukuoka.  And this is the last chance to get boxes made by ShibataToku, a centruy-old shop.

Note*  As with handmade items, you will see artisan's mark on the box.  Some visible signs (blemish) left from the tools is normal.  This is not a factory mass-produced item.
