These wood tubs are call Meshibitsu in Japanese, meaning rice buckets. They are used to hold steamed rice and because of the natural cedar wood, they retained moisture well so steamed rice remains fluffy and soft.
This bucket works well as bakery basket for your bread, danish or muffins (1-2 person serving). It looks extremely nice as breasfast table setting. The reverse side of the lid becomes a useful tray for your jam and butter or coffee/tea set! Or use it for a single serve of southern fried chicken and waffle.
TS is the smallest size rice bucket that holds about 4 small bowls (2 cups) of rice. Be sure to check the size before ordering.
Be creative! It can be used as storage containers for anything: knitting/sewing kit, art supply or stationary...
Made with finely planed 4mm thick cedar wood with the iconic sakura bark stitching. It has a very pleasant aroma of cedar wood.
