FUROSHIKI is versatile wrapping cloth that serves many different purposes in the culture of Japan.  Before suitcase was invented, large furoshiki cloths were used to wrap up personal belongings for traveling and moving.   Many still uses them to keep their storage tidy. 
 
There are many creative ways to utilize furoshiki.   As book wrap, gift wrap, scarf, eco-shopping bag, travel toiletries bag, you name it.  It’s washable and reusable, good for the environment.  
 
Bento box wrapping has always been common, as it creates a nice little handle to carry the box around.  It adds a bit of personal touches and cheerfulness to people's lunch boxes.  When Japan is finally (aggressviely) looking into reducing the use of plastic bags, furoshiki is making a come back.
