This handmade bentwood hinoki wood tray will be a beautiful and functional addition to your house ware. Minimal and modern with its clean straight grain lines. Cedar and Hinoki are used in tea cermony and Shinto rituals because of its humble and refined lines, symbolizing purity. Only a small portion of a high-quality log can be used to make bentwood work.
The design is timeless, how about bringing this forward to another century as heirloom houseware? Use this to carry ice cold lemonates to your guests, or challenge yourself to present a Japanese-style kaiseki cuisine or teasetting
Made with 5mm fine Japanese cedar with the iconic cherry tree bark stitches. This tray is coated with clear food-safe urethane so you don't have to worry about water stains from cold drinking glasses or food stains.
Check out the Cedar cypress version for a warmer tone. Very limited units available as ShibataToku will not produce them anymore. Own a piece of unique bentwood craft history from Hakata Fukuoka made by master artisan Mr. Morita and Yoshiko Shibata.
*NOTE: As with handmade items, you will see artisan's marks on the box. Some visible marks left from the tools is normal. This is not a factory mass-produced item. ShibataToku's woodshop uses machines from over 50-60 years ago.
