Our popular classic-size Japanese wood bento box is now hande-made by the last Hakata bentwood artisan, Tamaki Shibata. As Artisan Mr. Morita retired from ShibataToku, we initiated discussion withTamaki, and she quickly accepted the invitation. To her, it is important to continue the heritage of Hakata bentwood craft.
Hakata-style bento box uses premium quality cedar wood grown in Japan. It is both timelessly iconic and minimally stylish. The box comes with a loose divider so you can portion the box according to your food. Besides typical Japanese-style lunch set with an assortment of small dishes, this size bento box is perfect for sandwiches, hotdogs, salad, cookies... etc. Not to mention, shouldn't we all be more earth-friendly and be plastic-free?
And who said bento box is only made for food? Just be creative. It can be used as storage containers for anything.
Made with finely planed 4mm thick cedar wood with the iconic sakura bark stitching. The bento box has no coating, the raw cedar wood reatains a very pleasant aroma.
Food portion is smaller in Japan than in Western culture. Be sure to check the size before ordering.
